Dental Bridge

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a replacement tooth to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. Unlike a partial denture it is fixed in place, so it stays put when you eat and when you clean your teeth. It is one of the more common ways we close a gap for patients at our Windsor practice.

People usually raise it with us for one of a few reasons: chewing on one side has become uncomfortable, a gap shows when they speak or smile, or someone has mentioned that the teeth either side of a space have started to lean toward it. A gap tends not to stay a simple gap. Neighbouring teeth can drift over time and the bite can change with them, which is the usual reason to have it looked at rather than leave it.

Whether a bridge is the right choice depends mostly on the teeth either side of the space, because they carry the restoration. Their condition is what we assess first. If they are not suitable, a dental implant or a partial denture may fit your case better, and we will say so. We provide all three in Windsor, and the honest comparison matters more than the recommendation.

A first visit is an examination and X-rays, a conversation about what you want the result to do for you, and a written estimate before any treatment begins. If a bridge is the right fit, the supporting teeth are prepared and an impression or digital scan is taken, and you leave with a temporary bridge while the permanent one is made. Most cases are completed in two appointments, though some need more if the supporting teeth need attention first.

Missing teeth affect people differently. Some find it changes how they eat, some how they speak, and some simply do not like how it looks. Any of those is reason enough to book an assessment and hear what your options actually are.
