What Invisalign and clear aligners are
Clear aligners are a series of removable, nearly invisible trays that gradually move your teeth into place. We offer Invisalign and SureSmile, two of the most established brands. You take the trays out to eat, drink and brush, so there are no food restrictions and nothing to clean around — and most people won’t notice you’re wearing them.
They work best for mild to moderate crowding, spacing and minor bite issues, and they depend on you: they only work if worn about 22 hours a day. At your consultation we’ll tell you honestly whether they’ll get the result you want, or whether they aren’t the right tool for your case.
Retainers
The part everyone underestimates. Teeth drift back toward where they started for years after treatment — wearing a retainer as directed is what makes the result permanent. It’s part of the plan, not an afterthought.
Good for adults
Plenty of our aligner patients are adults, usually for practical reasons — crowded teeth that are hard to keep clean, or teeth that have drifted over the years. Age isn’t a barrier; healthy gums and bone are what matter, and we check that first. Clear aligners suit adults especially well because there’s nothing visible to explain at work.
What it costs
Cost depends on how much movement is needed and how long treatment takes. We’ll give you the actual number at the free consultation, before you commit to anything. Many insurance plans include an orthodontic benefit, often with a lifetime maximum, and we’ll help you find out what yours covers. Note: the Canadian Dental Care Plan does not cover this kind of treatment.

Do you offer braces at Rose City Dental?
We straighten teeth using clear aligners rather than fixed braces. If your case would be better treated with braces, your dentist will explain why during your assessment and refer you to an orthodontic specialist in the Windsor area.
What is the difference between braces and clear aligners?
Braces are fixed to the teeth and stay in place for the length of treatment. Clear aligners are a series of removable trays that are taken out for eating, brushing and flossing. Braces can address a wider range of cases, while aligners are less noticeable and are often suited to mild to moderate concerns. Which one is appropriate depends on your teeth, not on preference alone.
At what age should a child have their bite assessed?
Dental guidance generally suggests an assessment by around age seven, once enough adult teeth have come through for a dentist to see how the bite is developing. This is an assessment rather than a commitment to treatment, and many children are simply monitored.
Do I need a referral to be assessed?
No. You can book a consultation at Rose City Dental directly by calling 519-252-5444. If specialist treatment turns out to be the better route, we will arrange that referral for you.
Is clear aligner treatment covered by insurance?
Coverage varies considerably between plans, and this treatment is often handled separately from general dental coverage. Our team can help you submit a predetermination to your insurer so you know what is covered before you commit. Clear aligner treatment is not generally included under the Canadian Dental Care Plan — our CDCP page explains what that plan does cover.
How long does clear aligner treatment take?
It depends on how much movement is needed and, with removable aligners, on how consistently they are worn. Your dentist can give you a realistic estimate once your teeth have been assessed rather than a figure before anyone has looked.
