About Dentures in Windsor
Dentures are custom-made removable appliances designed to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They can help restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile while supporting the appearance of your facial features. Depending on your needs, your dentist may recommend partial dentures to replace several missing teeth or full dentures when all teeth in an arch need to be replaced.
You may be a candidate for dentures if you are missing multiple teeth or have experienced significant tooth loss that affects your daily life. During your consultation, your dentist will evaluate your oral health, discuss your concerns, and recommend the most appropriate treatment option based on your individual needs.
If missing teeth are making it difficult to eat comfortably, speak clearly, or feel confident about your smile, a dental assessment can help you explore whether dentures are the right solution for you.
How Missing Teeth Can Affect Your Daily Life
Difficulty Chewing Certain Foods
Missing teeth can make it harder to bite and chew comfortably, which may limit the foods you enjoy.
Changes in Speech
Tooth loss can affect the way certain words and sounds are pronounced, making speech less clear.
Feeling Self-Conscious About Your Smile
Many people with missing teeth feel less confident when smiling, speaking, or socializing.
Multiple Missing Teeth
Whether you are missing a few teeth or an entire arch, replacing them can help improve both function and appearance.
Changes in Facial Appearance
Significant tooth loss can affect facial support over time, contributing to changes in the appearance of your smile and facial profile.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between full and partial dentures?
Full dentures are used when all teeth in the upper or lower arch are missing, while partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth and fit around your remaining natural teeth. Your dentist will recommend the option that best suits your oral health needs.
How long does it take to get dentures?
The treatment timeline varies depending on your individual needs and whether any additional dental treatment is required beforehand. Your dentist will explain the expected process during your consultation.
Will dentures feel natural?
It can take time to adjust to wearing dentures. As you become accustomed to them, everyday activities such as speaking and eating often become more comfortable. Your dentist will ensure your dentures fit as well as possible and make adjustments if needed.
How should I care for my dentures?
Dentures should be cleaned daily using appropriate cleaning products and handled carefully to help maintain their condition. Regular dental visits are also important to evaluate the fit of your dentures and your overall oral health.
How often do dentures need to be replaced?
Dentures may need adjustments, relining, or replacement over time due to normal wear and changes in your gums and jawbone. Your dentist will monitor their fit during routine appointments and recommend updates when necessary.
Are dentures my only option for replacing missing teeth?
Dentures are one of several tooth replacement options. Depending on your oral health and treatment goals, your dentist may also discuss alternatives such as dental bridges or dental implants to help you make an informed decision.

We fit and adjust dentures at our office at 300 Tecumseh Rd E, Unit 220, here in Windsor. If you already wear dentures and they have stopped fitting properly, that is worth a look too — a reline is a much smaller job than a remake, and it is the thing people put off longest.
We are open until 7:00 pm Monday through Thursday, until 5:00 pm Friday, and Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. We bill most insurance directly so you only pay your portion at the desk, and we accept and bill the Canadian Dental Care Plan, which covers dentures.
